Named one of the top communities in the Houston, Texas area, Fulshear once was a ranch and farm community. The Texas neighborhood is now one of the most sought-after places to live in Houston’s western area.
Situated just outside of Katy, Texas, Fulshear features master planned neighborhoods, such as the highly touted Harvest Green, designed around a farming theme, and Cross Creek Ranch.
People like living in Fulshear because they enjoy the relaxed country lifestyle combined with being in close proximity with modern conveniences, such as cinemas, upscale retailers, and fine dining options.
According to recent statistics, Fulshear, with its easy access to the Westpark Tollway and Interstate 10, has been ranked as the fastest expanding city in Texas. About 10,000 people live in Fulshear currently. However, statistics show that the population will continue to climb toward the 50,000 mark through the 2020s.
The city’s roots are tied to both the Churchill Fulshear plantation and settlers who received land grants in Stephen F. Austin’s colony, known as the Old Three Hundred.
The small rural site centered its activities around the Fulshear Plantation’s flour mill and cotton gin until 1888. At that time, the plantation owner, Churchill Fulshear, Jr. gave the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway a right-of-way through his land.
In 1898, Fulshear had a population of 250 people and featured 3 saloons, a hotel, a school and 11 stores. Fulshear has always attracted activity, as residents, in 1912, reportedly complained that the place was so busy when people got paid that they could not walk on the crowded sidewalks.
However, things did settle down for a while, in 1933, when the Fulshear plantation house was demolished. The population remained at around 250 until the metro area spanned out in the late 1970s.
While the landscape has changed today in Fulshear, that country feel still remains. To enjoy the nearby amenities, residents count on the OneNeighbor app to order home services, such as lawn care, including fertilization, mulching, and weeding.
The app makes ordering lawn services easy and affordable. Download the app on your smartphone, order your lawn care service, pay for it, and schedule it. Check out the app today and see what you have been missing.
